I know this isn't gonna quite be up to JUSTIN TAYLOR's standards because nobody with an echapbook works harder than him because he has a real book deal, but THUMBSCREWS PRESS, an imprint of PEAR NOIR, has rereleased J.A. TYLER's sold out chapbook, EVERYONE IN THIS IS EITHER DYING OR WILL DIE OR IS THINKING OF DEATH.

MY HEART DRAWS A ROUGH MAP. HOWIE GOOD
Howie Good’s My Heart Draws a Rough Map proceeds like a softly-spoken B-movie. Not content to just beat, the heart grieves, gives in to melancholy, takes long walks, plays baseball, makes demands like Edward G. Robinson. Drawn outside of the self, the heart doesn’t just get saddled with emotion, but is an observer, a conversationalist, enigmatic. As equally wrought with primary colors and ominous dark as child’s crayon portrait of her parents come to life, My Heart Draws a Rough Map maintains a simple surreality, tongue in cheek, and heart on sleeve (and atop roof, and on board train, and in a hundred other places).
This chapbook is wonderfully complemented with artwork done by the talented and quite sweet Mia Christopher. Please visit her website to enjoy more of her whimsical, wistful work.

FROM THE GOOD FOLKS AT BLUEPRINTREVIEW
BluePrintReview Issue 22
The new issue of BluePrintReview is live. It's a special issue, based entirely on reprints of previously published pieces. The official theme, derived from the pre-published approach is: 're /visit /cycle /turn'.The issue itself starts in Not Technicolor, moves on to The Birth of the Universe and to Antibodies, picks up on Fragments, a Keepsake, -- and various other things and themes -- , and ends some steps from Eternity in South Bronx.
Every featured text and image also includes the link to the original publication, adding an extra dimension to the interconnections and convergence of texts and images.
Extras include: a list of lost+found online magazines, a further-reading page, memories of the days before the internet, and some notes on the process.
Enjoy the retrospective ~

NOBODY TRUSTS A BLACK MAGICIAN
Holy shit. These are some amazing words. Here's an excerpt from SO MUCH OF THE SAME:
"I want to punch you in the face, make you cry. I want you to punch me back before rape-fucking me. Then I’ll cry too. A Stevie Wonder song will play right then over the smell of a hamster cage and later on, realizing there is blood on the floor and on our hands, we’ll laugh with washcloths in the bathroom—cool-water-washing each other and kissing the pain away so sweetly. I’ll get you a glass of water from downstairs. Just for your thirst because that's how much I love you."

NEWS FROM AARON BURCH. HOBART
Happy beginnings of Fall everyone,
The October HOBART is live now and, granted, we love all updates and issues equally, as if they were our children but, that said, this may be our best yet. One of, certainly. We've got stories from:
Lucy Corin
David Holub
Andrew Roe
Reynard Seifert, and
Kevin Wilson
And interviews with Molly Gaudry and Patrick deWitt.
http://hobartpulp.com/website/
And, after reading the issue, maybe check out this great "open letter"/review of our very own Matthew Simmons' A Jello Horse by Jim Ruland in the Believer:
http://www.believermag.com/issues/200910/?read=review_simmons
That's it for this month. Short and sweet. Although, if you are still reading and happen to be a creative writing teacher or student, maybe shoot us a reply about a project/promotion/idea we are working on.
Thanks.
-hobart.

By Jason Jordan
Welcome back to decomP for the October 2009 issue. This month we're featuring new work from Eric Burke, Neil de la Flor, Adam Falkner, Frank Hinton, Laura Isaacman, Tom Mahony, Halli Melnitsky, Sarah Q. Morgan, Andrew Roe, Jon Sands, Raudiel SaƱudo, Karen Sosnoski, Jesse Tangen-Mills, Mimi Vaquer, Jeanann Verlee, and Catherine Zickgraf. Additionally, we have a review of Gary William Murning's debut novel If I Never.
Also, we'd like to congratulate our nominees for Dzanc's Best of the Web 2010. This year we nominated one poem, one flash, and one short: Jeannie Galeazzi for "Aeronauts," Stefan Kiesbye for "Home," and Jessa Marsh for "My Motel Week." We wish our nominees the best of luck in the selection process.
Second to lastly, the E-i-C was interviewed by No Teeth, a triweekly digital poetry journal, so read up on the d scoop and then consider submitting your work, poets.
Lastly, we plan to have a revamped Web site up in January. We know it's a few months away, but we're still psyched. See you next month, and thanks for reading.
